             STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Meaning

A problem statement is a concise description of an issue to be addressed or a condition to be improved upon. It identifies the gap between the current (problem) state and desired (goal) state of a process or product.

Characteristics of the statement of the probem

• the problem itself, stated clearly and with enough contextual detail to establish why it is important;
• the method of solving the problem, often stated as a claim or a working thesis;
• the purpose, statement of objective and scope of the document the writer is preparing.

Elements of statement of the problem

An educational topic is the broad subject matter that a researcher wishes to address in a study that creates initial interest for the reader.

A research problem is an educational issue, concern or controversy that the researcher investigates. Authors may present it as a single sentences of as a couple of short sentences.Also,author may frame the problem as a deficiency in the literature, such as we know little about the factors that lead parents to be e involved in their adolescents schooling.

C) Justification of the Importance of the Problem

It also need to provide several reasons that explain why the issue is important. Justifying a a research problem means presenting reasons for the importance of studying the issue or concern. The justification occur in several paragraph in an introduction in which you provide evidence to document the need to study the problem.

D) justification in the literature based on other researchers and expert

 Authors often site research problems that require further  study in the conclusions of the literature such as journals articles.Another justification from the literature consists of advancing a need for the study based on an incomplete model or theory that explain the relation among elements of the model or theory.

E) justification based on workplace or personal experiences

Closely related are the personal experiences of our lives that provide source for researchable problems.these personal experiences may arise from intense personal school experience or experiences drawn from our childhood or family situations.personal experiences provide justification especially in those studies with a practical orientation.

F) Deficiencies in what we know

A deficiency in the evidence means that the past literature or practical experiences of the researcher does not adequately address the research problem.

A deficiency in practice meant that the educators have not yet identified good a and workable solution for schools or other educational settings.

G) The Audience

The audience in a statement of the problem section needs to be identified. It consists of Individuals and groups who will read and potentially benefit from the information provided in the research studies.The audience will vary depending on the nature of the study, but several often considered by educators include researchers practitioners, policy maker,and individuals participating in the studies.

The study has interviews from eleven K-12 teachers in charge of different courses and subjects. Their experience of teaching online classes, with cohorts of different sizes, reveals that online learning is challenging, but advantageous in the long run.
